What a wonderful trip! (1st part) 29/Oct/2007

Archivado en: New York — elenasanzocalonge @ 22:00

We went by bus to NYC and it took 5 hours more or less. First of all we went to the 5th avenue to buy, eat and walk. Some friends and I went to Central Park (it’s huge!), the Disney Store, the”Apple” Store…

After this we went in a tour by bus with a guide. We saw a lot of buildings and things. We saw the Dakota Building, where Yoko Ono lives; and we went to the John Lennon memorial in Central Park. So beautiful. We went also to the Ground Zero. This part was really, really sad.

We went to the hotel (the Wellington) and after leaving the suitcases, we went to Mary Poppins Musical, near Times Square. I liked it so much!!!! But it was very difficult to understand… After we went to buy in Times Square zone. There was an amazing M&M’s store!!!!!

After buying, we went to the hotel finally. In my room I was with Helena and Raquel Dueñas. In it, there were 2 beds, and it’s funny because we ended sleeping the three in the same bed! The other was free… But really, we slept so little, we were talking till too late. Very busy day…

Nightmare Before Christmas :D 25/Oct/2007

Who haven’t seen this film? Maybe some people… huge mistake! I love this film! 10 days ago, Raquel and Helena were at my home, and we saw this film in the TV, although I don’t remember which channel… I like so much the songs:

What’s this? What’s this?
There’s color everywhere
What’s this?
There’s white things in the air
What’s this?
I can’t believe my eyes
I must be dreaming
Wake up, Jack, this isn’t fair
What’s this?”

“This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night
This is Halloween, everybody make a scene
Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright
It’s our town, everybody screm
In this town of Halloween”

And I also like the characters: Jack Skellington, Sally, Oogie Boogie, Doctor Flinkestein, the Mayor…

And now Tim Burton (the director) is going to premiere a new version of it: in 3D! What wonderful news!!!

And advice: kids, and olders; everybody, see this film!

Boston Celtics! 25/Oct/2007

They are the basketball team of Boston (in the NBA) and they are really good! A lot of people know them because of their success. Some of the famous player are: Paul Pierce (34), he is the most famous; Eddie House (50), Kevin Garnett (5)… and twelve more. In the coaching staff, there are: a head coach, 4 assistant coaches, 2 strengh and conditioning coaches and a head athletic trainer. There are a lot of cheerleaders too, I don’t know the exact number. The name of the stadium is TD Banknorth Garden (formerly known as the FleetCenter); and it’s sooooo big, it has a 19,580 maximum seating capacity. It was opened in 1995. Their colours are the green and white, and the symbol is a shamrock with 3 leaves.

Halloween Party 25/Oct/2007

Archivado en: Halloween — elenasanzocalonge @ 19:57

The another day (the last saturday) we had a halloween party in the Portuguese club. Spanish and American guys went, but not everybody. It was fun, but sometimes boring, because we were few people and the parents were there…

My costume was a little girl who was going to sleep :) Some people were a scarecrow, a grandmother, a musketeer, an angel, some devils, some jockey and football players, a mexican…

We were eating halloween sweets, pizza, cookies…We were dancing and talking, and we were carving pumpkins! It was a little disgusting because of the sticky pulp…but it was OK. I emptied my pumpkin and the one of a friend, and then we carved them. There were a lot of different designs but a lot were similar; then we voted the most beautiful and original; but I don’t know which one won.

Boston Red Sox! 23/Oct/2007

Yesterday, there was a baseball game in the TV (Boston Red Sox vs. Cleveland Indians). I was watching it for 1 hour, more or less; and I began to understand that sport! I’ve never been so interested in the baseball until yesterday. Actually I like it! The Red Sox were winning, and finally they won!

red-sox1.jpgred-sox2.jpg

This sport is the most popular in USA, with the American football. Some of the teams are: New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, the two of above and more.

But I think sometimes it’s so boring, when something interesting doesn’t happen in a long time. I like so much the ”home runs”. But it’s interesting after all.

Desperate Housewives [*] 17/Oct/2007

In Spain, I liked a lot this show; and the other day I found it in the TV! I was so happy! But I don’t know in which channel it was. It was a current chapter, of the last season. Now I’m going to explain a little about it:

It’s an American television comedy-drama series, created by Marc Cherry. The setting of the show is the street of Wisteria Lane in the fictional American town of Fairview. It follows the lives of a group of women, seen through the eyes of their dead neighbor, as they work through domestic struggles and family life, while facing the secrets, crimes and mysteries hidden behind the doors of their beautiful suburban neighborhood.

The cast is headed by Teri Hatcher (”Lois” in Lois&Clark/Superman) as Susan, Felicity Huffman as Lynette, Marcia Cross as Bree, Eva Longoria Parker as Gabrielle, and Nicollette Sheridan as Edie. Brenda Strong narrates the show as the deceased Mary Alice.

I like this series because there are a lot of stories at the same time, not only one; and it’s staring by women and it’s funny too.

of course! my friend! 9/Oct/2007

Archivado en: General — elenasanzocalonge @ 00:50

This is a sentence that my friends and I are all the time using! Because of this is the title of today.

The first day (when we arrived) we had to sleep in a hotel (”La Quinta Inn” or something like that)… because there was a mistake in the day of arrival with our host families, but it was so good; I bought some “Sponge Bob” pyjamas pants in a K-Mart!

The following day was good too we went to an outlet mall called “Grentham Village” and a lot of expensive brands here were so cheaper. I NEED to go again! I’m going to buy all the mall! (More or less). And then we got at the school to meet our families. Everybody was with posters with our names, it was like a movie. Then I went to ”my” home and I discover it was marvellous! To going in, you have to enter in a “little forest”, it’s like a tale! And outside and inside it’s so beatiful! And big! I love it! And the family (the Flatleys) are very nice. The girl is called Ashley and she is 16 years old and she has a younger sister (Brenna,14) and a younger brother too (Jonathan,13), and the have a cat called “Boots” (because the colour of its legs).

And today we have gone to Boston! But very little time… We haven’t had free time to go for a walk or shopping. In USA, today has been Columbus Day and some American students and all the Spaniards have gone to this city. First, we have gone to visit the city in a…boat-bus! It has been strange… We have been in the river and in the streets. And after this, we have had lunch in the Science Museum, and then we have visited the Museum. It has been interesting, but a lot of things didn’t work… What a pity! When we have ended, we have returned to Milford (at 5 o’clock). I’ve came home and I’ve had dinner with the family. We have talked of a lot of things! It has been great!  Very funny!

Tomorrow it’s going to be the first time at the classes of the high school. I’m nervous! I’m going to bed now because I have to wake up at 6 o’clock.

Bye everybody!

a little about me… 8/Oct/2007

Archivado en: Extra — elenasanzocalonge @ 23:56

Hello!

My name is Elena and I’m 15 years old (in December I will be 16). I live in Valladolid (Castilla y León) and I go to San Agustín School. I like basketball (I’ve been at the school team for many years) and the music. I’ve got an older brother (he is 24) but I haven’t got any pets.

I’m one of the 21 boys and girls from my school who are going to Milford (Massachusetts, USA) on October. And this blog is going to be my “diary” during my stay there.

We are going from October 5 to October 27.

I love travelling and I’ve already been in Ireland and Canada. I like so much meeting new cultures.

I don’t know my host family yet, but I hope that soon. And I’m so happy and excited with this experience and I think it’s going to be very…everything!Funny, interesant, unforgetable…

Bye-bye!
